Privacy Policy

Effective November 4, 2026

At a glance

  • We don't collect your data. Ember has no accounts, analytics, ads, or tracking.
  • Your workouts, journal, and body details stay on your device and in your own private iCloud.
  • Apple handles payments. RevenueCat checks your subscription status using an anonymous ID.
  • You can export your data as JSON at any time, and delete it whenever you like.

Who we are

Ember is an iPhone app for tracking strength training, made by Saul Plascencia (“we” or “us”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use Ember.

What we collect

Nothing. Ember has no accounts and no servers of our own. It includes no analytics, crash reporting, or advertising tools, and it doesn't track you across apps or websites. We can't see your workouts or your personal details.

The data you enter

Ember stores what you choose to enter so the app can work:

Where your data lives

Your data is stored on your device. It also syncs through your own private iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit private database and iCloud key-value storage), so it's available on your other devices signed in to the same Apple ID.

Data in iCloud is covered by Apple's privacy policy and your iCloud settings. We have no access to it.

Ember's widgets and Live Activity read a small copy of your workout data that stays on your device. It doesn't leave your device except through your iCloud sync.

Subscriptions

Apple processes all purchases. Ember never sees your payment details.

Ember uses RevenueCat (revenuecat.com) to check whether your subscription is active. To provide this service, RevenueCat receives:

No workout, journal, or body data is sent to RevenueCat. See RevenueCat's privacy policy for how it handles this information.

Permissions

Ember doesn't use your location, contacts, camera, microphone, or Apple Health data, and it doesn't use contact tracing.

App Store ratings

Ember may ask you to rate the app using Apple's standard App Store rating prompt.

Exporting your data

Go to Settings › Your data › Export Workouts & Journal in Ember to save your workouts and journal entries as a JSON file. This works with or without a subscription.

Deleting your data

Ember doesn't have an in-app button to delete everything. Because your data lives on your devices and in your iCloud, you remove it there:

  1. Delete the app. Touch and hold the Ember icon on your Home Screen, tap Remove App, then Delete App. Do this on each device where Ember is installed.
  2. Open iCloud storage. Go to Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Account Storage. On some iOS versions this is called Manage Storage.
  3. Remove Ember's data. Tap Ember in the list, then tap Delete Data from iCloud and confirm.

Deleting the app doesn't cancel your subscription. To cancel, go to Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions.

An ended subscription only locks the app. It never deletes your data.

This website

This website doesn't use cookies, analytics, or third-party scripts. If you pick an accent color on the home page, that choice is saved in your browser only and is never sent to us. Our web host may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and browser types, to run the site.

Children

Ember isn't directed at children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll post the new version on this page with a new effective date.
